Recipe for Homemade Chocolate and Nougat Cake with whole Hazelnuts

This recipe for chocolate and nougat cake with whole hazelnuts is super delicious and easy to make. We have made it several times and served it for friends and family. It's our believe that most people find this cake very special and delicious. The cake is very moist and has whole hazelnuts in it which gives a nice and crunchy taste to the cake. The hazelnuts also gives a great look to the cake - a simple thing but still kind of special. This recipe contains nougat with gives a soft and creamy consistency to the cake. Nougat is made from sugar and honey roasted nuts mostly almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and pistachios and has a great taste. We normally serve this cake with some homemade vanilla ice cream.

Chocolate and Nougat Cake with whole Hazelnuts

1 cake
Preparation time: 60 min
Danish title: Chokolade og nougatkage med hele hasselnødder

Ingredients:
200 g (7 oz) nougat
200 g (7 oz) hazelnuts
200 g (7 oz) butter
200 g (7 oz) sugar
100 g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate
160 g all-purpose flour
4 eggs
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp natron/baking soda

Instruction:
Step 1: Cut the nougat in smaller pieces and pour it in a sauce pan together with chocolate and butter. Melt it at low heat and let it cool off a bit.
Step 2: Pour sugar and eggs in a bowl and whisk it together.
Step 3: Pour the flour through a strainer into the bowl and add cocoa powder and natron/baking soda. Add the hazelnuts and mix it all well.
Step 4: Add the melted and slightly cooled chocolate/nougat mixture into the flour/eggs mixture and mix it well.
Step 5: Pour the batter into a cake baking dish lined with parchment/baking paper. Baking dish should be about 25 cm (10 inch) in diameter. Bake the cake at 180C (360F) at the oven's middle position for about 30 minutes.
Step 6: Let the cake off before you cut it out.

Tip: Serve the cake with some homemade vanilla ice cream.

This recipe looks lovely! I will definitely try it. What size would the baking dish need to be?
    Thank you

Hi EM. I have forgot to add this information to the recipe -sorry about that. The diameter of the baking dish that I normally use is about 25 cm (10 inch). Regards Kim (NordicFoodLiving.com)
