I love burning love/ brændende kærlighed! Perfect Danish comfort food. We make a version where we add bits of sausage to the onions and the bacon!

As an aside to my previous Comment - he had me cut thick-sliced bacon across to form roughly squares.
This was rendered slowly. And the result was spooned over mashed potatoes, grease and all.
I drool just thinking about it.

Went camping many years ago. Our group sort of adopted a young (20ish) man, and had him camp with us.
To show his gratitude, he asked me to take him shopping for ingredients and we made this.
It was a hit in camp.
I've made it many times since then, and my husband loves it.
